How to properly kick a soccer ball

To properly kick a football (or soccer) ball, one must have good form, timing, and technique. These are the steps to properly kick a football:

  1. Place your feet shoulder width apart, with your knees slightly bent and your toes pointed in the forward direction.
  2. Bend your left leg below the knee, and place your left shoe against your right thigh. Your weight should fall on your back leg.
  3. Straighten your front leg out in front of you. Keep your hips in line and your upper back relaxed.
  4. Your kicking leg should be swept up and around until it reaches the top of the ball.
  5. Push down with all your strength on your kicking foot at the top of your swing.
  6. Once the ball is released from your foot, you can immediately push off with your remaining leg and move toward the target.
  7. When you reach the end of your forward motion, pull back on your kicking leg and allow it to come back to the starting position.
  8. You can do the same thing on the other side.
  9. Practice this exercise daily until you feel comfortable with the mechanics.
  10. Always use both legs simultaneously. Never kick one-legged!
  11. Keep your breathing in check at all times.
  12. Focus on the ball rather than your opponent. Concentrate only on what you are doing.
  13. Relax your mind and forget all distractions
